According to Izvestia.ru, Russian Ministry of Culture has appointed Nikolai Tsiskaridze to head the renown ballet academy, while Uliana Lopatkina is to become its Artistic Director. |

June 24. St. Petersburg, Russia In accordance with a centuries-old tradition, Nikolai Tsiskaridze fired a cannon from the Naryshkin Bastion of Peter and Paul fortress in celebration of 272th graduation class at the venerable Vaganova Ballet (former Imperial) Academy. This is the first for Tsiskaridze who has been appointed to the position of the academy's acting rector.  |

June 24 Solemn graduation ceremony gave way to the resplendent life orchestra ball, reminiscent of War and Peace. Hard to imagine anything lovelier than these long-limbed, beautifully gowned young people, gliding and waltzing over shiny parquet of the historic Throne room. Nikolai Tsiskaridze for all his showmanship, preferred to stay in the background, but when an occasional camera or two caught his visage, he couldn't have looked more proud.
